Culture Night 2013
Contact Studios was open for
visitors on Culture Night, 20th September, 2013. All 15 Artists from
the studio showed work in their spaces and were there to welcome visitors and
talk about their work.
There was a simple jewellery making class for children
and an affordable art sale.
Here are two postcards of mine
included in the affordable art sale. These were adapted from my ‘All Fall Down’ series. I really enjoyed making them..... maybe this is something I will revisit in the future!

Second Annual Limerick Postgraduate Research Conference
This
Conference titled "What is the value of postgraduate research today? The
Applicability of Postgraduate Research in Ireland" took place at the University
of Limerick on the 6th June, 2013. The conference gives postgraduate
students a chance to present their work and to meet students from a wide range
of disciplines studying at LIT and UL.
I
showed a selection of work from my MA show at the conference and found the
feedback from delegates really useful. As always, it’s great to have opportunities
to exhibit work in different venues as it only comes alive when it has an
audience.

Drawing on the back of an Envelope
The above image was shown in an exhibition at Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. The exhibition was curated by Ian Wieczorek and called ‘Drawing on the back of an Envelope’. The exhibition played on the notion that sometimes a good idea or project begins with a sketch on the back of an envelope, and was a way of celebrating drawing. The show was presented in association with Linenhall’s National Drawing Day Programme. The exhibition ran from 18th to 25th May, 2013.

Concealed Revelations
This exhibition titled
‘Concealed Revelations’ considers the imagery of the 1950s and how concealed repression
can seep through from the past, sometimes even in smiling faces. The challenge
of the practice is to make artwork that contributes to greater cultural
understanding of how we live in the presence of the past and the relevance of
1950s nostalgia and repression to today’s society.
This exhibition ran from the
13th to the 21st December, 2012, at The Church Gallery,
Limerick School of Art and Design, Clare Street, Limerick. The show was the presentation of paintings
from the MA research project that has been ongoing for the past two years.
